EMPTY ELECTRONIC DENSITIES OF STATES FOR 3d ROW ELEMENTS IN IRON, NICKEL AND COPPER

Abstract
X-ray absorption K edges for dilute alloys of iron, nickel and copper with 3d elements have been measured and are compared to results of density functional electronic structure calculations. The calculated single particle energies lead to absorption edges which are qualitatively in good, quantitatively in satisfactory agreement with the measurements.
