Abstract
The L3 edge of Au bulk has been studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy in the temperature range 16-300 K. An effective Debye temperature of 165 K has been evaluated from the spectra, in good agreement with heat capacity measurements. The behaviors of the Exafs Debye Waller factors have been calculated also for Au clusters by using a free bounded sphere density of state. An excellent agreement has been found with experimental data previously reported. This confirm that the dynamical properties of Au clusters are well described by a liquid drop model in agreement with heat capacity measurements.
