MAXIMUM ENTROPY DATA ANALYSIS

Abstract
The maximum entropy method has been shown to be the only regularisation method which does not introduce correlations into the solution of inverse problems for which there was no evidence in the data. If the data and image are linearly related, there is a unique maximum entropy solution. In such cases the solution can be found reliably by fast numerical algorithms. The method is discussed here particularly in relation to the deconvolution problem, considering also the effects of missing data points, and the possibility of refining parameters defining the point spread function, illustrated by many computational examples.
