ELECTRON DIFFRACTION AND MICROSCOPY OF INCOMMENSURATE PHASES AND QUASI-CRYSTALS

Abstract
We first review the application of transmission electron microscopy to incommensurate crystals drawing attention to the different techniques available. There follows a discussion of proposed differences between AlFe incommensurate and quasi-crystals introducing some new results on an AlFeCe quasi-crystal. Finally, a brief report is given of incommensurate phases recently identified in crystallized amorphous films of AlMn.
