Abstract
The lowest excited states of [Ru(bpy)3](PF6)2 single crystals are investigated by a detailed analysis of the temperature dependence of the polarized emissions (down to 1.6 K). It is possible to resolve a fine structure and to assign two different zero-phonon transitions. Further, we report on polarized and time-resolved measurements which show at 10 K a delayed emission for the [MATH]-polarization but a prompt one for [MATH]. This points to the existence of an energy barrier between the corresponding states.
