NON-EQUILIBRIUM PHONONS IN OPTICALLY PUMPED YAG-Cr3+

Abstract
The optical generation and the dynamics of high-frequency phonons in diluted YAG : Cr3+ at 1.5 K are discussed. The experiments show severe bottlenecking of the 19.5-cm-1 phonons and surprisingly strong Raman processes induced by non-equilibrium very-high-frequency phonons.
