TIME CONSTANT FOR PHONON INDUCED DESORPTION OF HELIUM

Abstract
We have made direct measurements of the time constant for thermal desorption of thin helium films as a function of substrate temperature and film binding energy. We find that the attempt frequency for desorption τ0-1 is several orders of magnitude larger than previously reported values.
