LATTICE DYNAMICS CALCULATIONS FOR SOLID BIPHENYL IN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE PHASE

Abstract
The lattice dynamics mode1 with explicitly included interphenyl modes was formulated. The intermolecular potential of the "6-exp" form with Williams parameters was ased. The phase transition to the incommensurate phase was interpreted as a phonon instability for the wave vector inside the Brillouin zone q = (0, 0.4, 0).
