Abstract
The Raman scattering of Rb2ZnC14 under uniaxial stress up to 300 bars on the c and a axis (orthorhombic D1b2b - Pnam) has been measured in the inconnnensurate phase at room temperature and at 82K. A downward shift in frequency has been observed in those bands related with bending and stretching modes of the ZnC14 free molecule. Unlike K2SeO4 in the same stress range, the study of the soft mode, assigned as amplitudon by Wada et el. l, does not show a shift toward lower frequencies.
