Abstract
We have calculated the local phonon density of states and local electron phonon coupling parameters for a thin metal film backed by a semi- infinite metal substrate, using the Montroll-Potts model. We find that only a small enhancement of the local electron phonon coupling in the film can be produced by the coupling of the film lattice to the substrate. Qualitatively, the local density of states in the thin film is like that of the isolated film, except for some smearing of sharp structure, and a general downward shift in frequency of the gross features.
