Abstract
We study in high purity polycristalline aluminium and magnesium a strong internal friction peak P1 situated around 0.5 TM (TM = melting point in K). This peak presents a maximum as a function of the oscillating stress amplitude. The results are in agreement with the model of dislocation glide controlled by jog climbing and diffusion of vacancies along dislocations.
