Abstract
A torsional internal friction measurement was performed for Nb single crystals containing N-H and O-H pairs at low temperatures. A clear peak was found at 60K for N-H and 50K for O-H with the measuring frequency of 1 Hz. For N-H, the magnitude of the peak was found to depend on the orientation but the peak temperature does not. The result for N-H is analysed to show that H occupies the third nearest octahedral site to N. For O-H, the results are more complex than for N-H. The temperature dependence of the jump rate of H in a O-H pair is also discussed.
