Abstract
After some general comments pertaining to heavy ion physics, the model of supermultiplets is mentioned as the oldest model leading to a quartet structure in nuclei. The model is briefly outlined and one recalls and discusses the very surprising success of its prevision on ground state binding energies far beyond its expected range of validity.
