Abstract
We used He at atmospheric pressure as a carrier gas to measure x-ray absorption spectra of gaseous species with remarkably high signal levels. The 4π collection efficiency of electrons created by the absorption event resul ted in an excellent signal to noise ratio and an estimated sensitivity of approximately 1ppm for any molecule which can be introduced into a He Stream. Spectra of Ar and Cl-containing hydrocarbons are shown.
