HIGH ENERGY SPECTROSCOPY OF MAGNETIC MATERIALS

Abstract
Photoemission at the Cooper minimum shows the local density of states and the properties of magnetic impurities in Pd and noble metals to depend critically on the position of the impurity level relative to the host d-band. Core level splittings do not provide a reliable measure of local magnetic moments.
