Abstract
The attenuation of longitudinal wave propagating along the c-direction of α-LiIO3 crystal is increased with an applied electrostatic field in the same direction. The whole process showes a relaxation behaviour. The attenuation of shear wave was found to be independent of the applied electrostatic field. The above phenomenon is explained on the bases of the interaction of longitudinal wave with the transporting ions.
