ORDER-DISORDER PHASE TRANSITION OF Au(110)-(1x2) RECONSTRUCTION

Abstract
The order-disorder surface phase transition has been studied on a Au(110) surface using scanning tunneling microscopy. Topographs of the surface taken after annealing at various temperatures show changes in the long range order, in agreement well with diffraction measurements and theoretical studies.
