LOW TEMPERATURE ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES OF SILICA AEROGELS

Abstract
Low frequency elastic modulus and acoustic attenuation of
silica aerogel have been measured by the resonant bar method. Measurements were
performed on low density samples (d = 0.27 and 0.87 g cm-3) in the
100 mK - 70 K temperature range.
