Abstract
After laser beam characterization with 3 parameters possibly being measured (Power P, equivalent radius r+ and shape coefficient g(E)) and induced effects definition (surface temperature ΔTS, heat propagation length s and rate of temperature variation U), we show the possibility of the description of the material behaviour with an analytical model which can be used with any energy distribution, the beam being stationary or moving. The model capabilities are illustrated by : - prevision of a behaviour, - analysis of experimental results, - choice of treatment parameters. The beam of a cw CO2 laser (CILAS CI 4000) is characterized. The methodology leading to the control of a laser treatment plant is described.
