Abstract
The kinetics of the decomposition reaction of AlNiCo 5 has been investigated using Field Ion Microscopy (FIM) and Atom Probe (AP) techniques. At the aging temperature of 680 °C the decomposition reaction is spinodal in character. The observed coarsening data of the resulting isotropically interconnected phases follows t0.23 kinetics. Furthermore the compositions of the two phases were obtained and are presented in this paper.
