APPROACHES TO THE REALIZATION OF IMPROVED CLOCK PERFORMANCE IN CESIUM BASED DEVICES

Abstract
The perturbations imposed upon an atomic system as a result of the interrogation process in a cesium clock are examined. Clock system limitations which are derived from or attributable to the servo process are also explored. A microprocessor controlled system appears to offer many attractive approaches which reduce or otherwise control these perturbations resulting in improved clock performance.
