Abstract
We have studied absorbers of 67ZnO, 67ZnS (both wurtzite and sphalerite structures), 67ZnSe, 67ZnTe and 67ZnF2. The isomer shifts decrease nearly linearly from ZnTe to ZnF2 when plotted versus the Pauling electronegativity of atoms bonded to divalent zinc. For hexagonal ZnS the electric field gradient was found to be zero within the limits of error. This indicates that the local symmetry at the Zn site is nearly identical for the two modifications.
