Abstract
Theoretical and experimental works on the acceleration of electrons when microwave fields act on a collisionless (ω0>> >>ν) isotropic plasma [MATH] have been analyzed. In the region of rarefied plasma (n<nc) in the absence of a critical point (n=nc) the energy of suprathermal electrons decreases abruptly and, as a rule, does not exceed the maximum value of the oscillatory energy of electrons [MATH] where E0 is the amplitude of microwave field. A control experiment on the interaction of a microwave with plasma ([MATH]<. 6nc) was performed in a waveguide in which accelerated electrons had been registered (see /4/).
